IPL 7 – Day three – 18th April 2014

Match 3 – Chennai vs Punjab

Punjab overcame Chennai’s stiff target of 205 easily with seven balls to spare to start their IPL 7 campaign with a win.

Maxwell and Miller are the stars for Punjab scoring 95(43) and 54*(37) respectively.

 

Match 4 – Rajasthan vs Hyderabad

Rajasthan was made to work hard by Hyderabad to go past the under-par target of 134. Eventually Rajasthan reached the target with 3 balls to go and got their 2 points.

IPL Stat Titbits:

  • In the match between Chennai and Punjab, a total of 411 runs were scored.
    • This is the eighth highest runs aggregated in an IPL match.
    • Interestingly Chennai has been involved in six of the top ten scoring matches so far in the IPL.
    • Punjab’s chase is the third highest run chase in IPL so far.

 

IPL 7 – Day two – 17th April 2014

Match 2 – Delhi vs Bangalore

Yuvraj and Kohli helps Bangalore to overcome Delhi challenge in IPL 7. Bangalore crushed Delhi by 8 wickets to take the two points.

IPL Stat Titbits:

  • Ross Taylor and J Duminy reached 1000 runs mark in IPL today.
    • Taylor now have 1001 runs from 51 innings while Duminy has 1045 from 39 matches

 

IPL 7 – Day one – 16th April 2014

Match 1 – Kolkata vs Mumbai

Reigning champions Mumbai started the new season with an embarrassing defeat to Kolkata. KKR thrashed the much fancied Mumbai team by 41 runs!

Well done KKR!

 

IPL Stat Titbits:

  • Gambhir got out for a duck and this is the eighth time he had been out without scoring a run. Interestingly Gambhir is now just one short of becoming ‘batsman with most ducks in IPL’.
    • Currently Amit Mishra enjoys this dubious record with 9 duck outs.
    • Of course Gambhir also has company. Rahul Sharma, Manish Pandey, Harbhajan Singh and J Kallis all have 8 duck outs to their credit!
    • Lasith Malinga’s 4/23 is the best for Mumbai against KKR.
    • Sunil Narine’s 4/20 helped him to complete 50 wickets in IPL. He is the fifth bowler to achieve this.
      • Sunil Narine is the first KKR bowler to scalp 50 wickets and overall he is the 26th bowler to achieve this.
      • Sunil Narine is also the fastest bowler to achieve this feat in IPL.
      • Manish Pandey’s 64 runs helped him to reach 1000 runs in IPL.
