It’s a mystery how our mind works.
As part of her royal heritage, Princess Aarti is bound to meet hundreds of people every month. Many a time, she even struggles to recognize her distant relatives. But still, somehow, her mind could identify this young man the moment she saw him. Three years had passed since ‘The royal mess’ incident. Yet, Aarti’s memory could recollect it as if it happened just yesterday.
“Rajkumari ji” the startled young man lowered his head to express his respect to the princess.
Aarti climbed down from her horse. She looked around as if to assess the location.
“What are you doing here?” she queried him in a subtle tone.
“Sorry rajkumari ji, I was simply relaxing,” stuttered the young man.
“Don’t you know this is a restricted area?”
“No one ever visits here rajkumari ji. I usually walk here for relaxing” replied the young man without accepting or denying Aarti’s question.
“Do you work in the palace?”
“I work in the Maharaja’s office rajkumari ji.”
“You work there?” asked Aarti with a covetous glance. She couldn’t help but pity herself for being a princess for nothing!
Aarti’s gaze should have startled the young man. He looked baffled.
“Should I help you in some way rajkumari ji?” he asked with his puzzled expression.
“No, nothing! Just leave me alone,” said Aarti in a crude manner, as she took a seat in the dust filled wood.
The young man was caught in no man’s land. He wasn’t certain
