  • Hello Writers (and Readers),

How do you write a short story? What makes a short story a "short story"? :Q:

Obviously, a 'short' story (or write up) cannot be called as a 'short-story', it is much much more than that... Isn't it? :Q:

However, there is no one definition for a 'short story' - all we do is experiment... The famous writer Sujatha have defined short story with two important features - (i) an interesting or catching twist at the end and (ii) the message should stick to your mind for days even after you finish reading it (this second one will make it a 'best' short story! Long way... :GL: )

So, what is yours? How do you go about framing your story? What do you put in, what do you omit? Let us know... Together we shall grow... :now:

  • Sharon,

That a good point, basing on real incidents. At least, we should keep some credibility for what we are telling the reader. We cannot say anything, like "the cat suddenly flew and became a dragon and ate him - boom... The end!" - definitely not! :-) That's cheating, isn't it? Even if we are to fancy things, we should build that up with some laws of our own... Deus ex machina won't account for a good story telling... Thanks for the reply...
