“Yes Pooja… I really loved you… But honestly speaking, I never thought my revenge idea was wrong…… till I learnt a lesson from you…. When you helped to bring my father back amongst everything that you went through, it really stuck a chord in my heart…. I learnt that revenge is not the way to live our life…. What I did to you was wrong…. Very wrong…. You have all rights to punish me… But please don’t throw me out of your life… I am willing to do anything to prove my love…”
Pooja was speechless for sometime… She slowly regained her composure and said,
“Nikhil, I loved you very much and you know that’s why I trusted you too… I still love you…. There’s no question about it. But I don’t want to make the same mistake again…. Praba and Pallavi really care about me…. I believe they will do whatever is good for me… If you can prove to them that you really care for me then I don’t have any problem in accepting you….”
Pallavi looked at Pooja while Prabakar looked at Nikhil…
There was silence for a few minutes….
Finally Pallavi broke the silence.
“I don’t think you have anything more to prove Nikhil. I believe you… I am not going to say you were correct, but guess even I would have done the same mistake if I were in your place…. But now since everything is clear I thing its better we all forget the past and start thinking about the future….”
“Not so fast Pallavi… I want him to prove something to me….” Said Prabakar in a rude tone.
“Sure Praba, tell me….” said Nikhil.
“I have few bunches of paper for you to sign for me….”
“Ok….”
“This one is for re-registering all Pooja’s properties in her name…… This one is for registering all your own assets in her name….”
Pooja didn’t like that idea… But she didn’t want to disturb Prabakar and hence kept her mouth shut!
“Sure Praba, I will sign them” said Nikhil without any hesitation and signed the documents without even reading them.
“So you are trying to prove you will do anything for Pooja?”
“Yes I am”
“Good…. I want you to come to Chennai and settle here… I guess you understand what I mean…. I want you to stay away from your parents….”
Nikhil hesitated for a few seconds and then said,
“Yes I will do that….I have tried to be a good son and I hurt Pooja doing that… I am sure my parents would understand…”
“Great…! So you are willing to be a servant in Pooja’s house without any asset, money or relatives???”
“I may not have the things you mentioned but I will have Pooja and hopefully her love. That’s more than enough for me.”
“I see….! So you will do anything for Pooja”
“Yes I will….”
Nikhil’s voice sounded stern. Prabakar quiety looked at him and said,
“So if I ask you to give your life for Pooja, will you do that?”
“NO” said Nikhil immediately in a firm tone.
Both Pallavi and Pooja were surprised by his reply.
But Prabakar was just the same without any emotions.
“So you will not give your life for your love?”
“I want to live my life for Pooja…. I want to shower her with my love, affection and care… I want to take care of her… I will not die and leave her all alone….”
“And you have passed the test!” said Prabakar in his trademark calm tone.
It took some time for the others to understand what he said.
When they realized it they were overjoyed.
Pooja rushed and hugged her husband tight.
Pallavi and Prabakar stood there with a smile. Akshita who was playing all along was surprised to see her favorite Nikhi hugging her aunt.
She couldn’t help her curiosity. She rushed to them and asked,
“Have you become mom and dad???”
Pooja became shy and hid her face by hugging her husband tight…. Nikhil just smiled…
Prabakar looked at is wife and winked…. Pallavi’s face turned red…
