Tamil movies bag 5 awards in the 59th National film awards
Kollywood has bagged 5 awards in the 59th National film awards announced couple of days back.
- Best Editor - KL Praveen for Aaranya Kaandam
- Best Supporting actor - Appu Kutty for Tamil film 'Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai'
- Best Tamil film - Vaagai sooda vaa
- Best popular film providing wholesome entertainment - 'Azhagarsamiyin Kuthirai'.
- Indira Gandhi Award for best debut film of a director - Kumararaja Thiagarajan for 'Aaranyakandam'
In addition to the film awards, Tamil actress turned director Revathi's documentary, Red building where the sun sets has bagged the best non-feature film award.

- Best costume designer - Shared by Niharika Khan for 'The Dirty Picture' and Neeta Lulla for Marathi film 'Balgandharva'
- Best location sound recordist - Beylon Fonseca for 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara'
- Best lyrics - Amitabh Bhattacharya for 'Agar zindagi' from 'I Am'
- Best make-up artist - Vikram Gaekwad for 'The Dirty Picture' and 'Bal Gandharva'.

- Best playback singer (female) - Roopa Ganguly for the Bengali film 'Abosheyshey'
- Best playback singer (male) - Anand Bhate for Balgandharva
