You would be surprised to know that there is evidence of use of cosmetics some 1.5 million years back. It is very evident that humans have shown keen interest in beautifying themselves from time immemorial.

Ok, let's get back to our series.

Sun protection is very important. It is one of the main reasons for aging signs like wrinkles, age spots, rough skin etc. During summer, try to use a sunscreen cream or lotion along with your moisturizer. Also, make it a habit to apply sunscreen not only in your face but also on neck and hands.

Talking about wrinkles, in addition to sun, even food habits contribute to wrinkles. Some of the food items that induce wrinkles are processed meats, ice cream, potatoes, butter, cakes, pastries, soft drinks and sugar rich desserts.

But of course there are food items that help to reduce wrinkles. Some of the well known wrinkles reducing food items are,

  • Fish
  • Cherries
  • Apples
  • Tea
  • Low fat yogurt
  • Nuts
  • Olive oil
  • Eggs
  • Dark green vegetables
  • Whole grain cereals

It is a good practice to apply moisturizer on a damp skin like immediately after taking bath. This helps to trap the moisture in the skin.

Also evening / night is the best time to take special care of your skin. As much as possible, try to be free from make-up and dirt (pollution) and this really helps your skin to rejuvenate.
