Sithilikarana Vyayama

 
Sithilikarana Vyayama as the name indicates are loosening exercises performed normally with speed and repetitions. These exercises are meant to achieve good physique by proper training of mainly the muscles and the spine. They not only help in performing the asanas better by loosening the joints for patients of different ailments, but they also help in building up stamina and tolerance. 

Benefits of Sithilikarana Vyayama:

  • Remove the lethargy and tardiness in the body.
  • Develop the stamina of the body.
  • Discipline the body-mind complex.

 

Sithilikarana Vyayama - 3. Twisting of waist

  • Stand erect with hands spread out parallel to the ground, feet about 1/2 metre apart.
  • Keeping the legs firm on the ground twist to the right, right hand straight and left hand bent at the elbow touching the chest.
  • Exhale continuously during this twist.
  • Come back while inhaling.
  • Repeat on the left side.
  • All twisting should be above the waist. Below the waist, maintain the body straight and firm. No bending at the knee-joints.
  • Repeat with increasing speed.
