In Hungary, a brain-dead pregnant woman has delivered her baby!
With the help of medical equipment her womb was cared and grown as if the mother was alive.
A 31 -year-old woman who was 15 weeks pregnant, had severe bleeding in the brain leading her to be brain-dead. But the tests showed that the fetus in her stomach was healthy. Since the doctors knew that fetus should stay in the mother's womb for a minimum of 27 weeks, with the help of hospital equipment, the doctors kept the mother alive for about 3 months.
After 27 weeks in the womb, doctors took out the baby successfully by caesarean surgery.
The Weight at birth of the male child was 1.42 kg. Doctors say that he is healthy and is currently taken care by his relatives.
The dead mother's body organs has also helped in rehabilitation of 4 people. Though, usually the body elements of a person who was made to live with the help of medical equipment for few days will be in unusable state, this mother’s body organs were healthy, added the doctors.
