We talked about food and eating habits in the last episode. In this episode let’s look at dieting.

It’s a common myth that ‘dieting’ is the best way to lose weight. But that’s not true! Otherwise it would have been so very easy for people to gain and lose weight and belly fat. And Ofcourse if that’s true, there would have been no need for me to write this series at all!

Instead of thinking about cutting calories, we should learn to eat healthy food. Most of the dieting plans are temporary solutions and they might help to shred few kilos initially. But most probably you would gain the lost kilos very soon.

So the more we learn to eat proper food, the better it is for our body.

So how can food help you to lose the extra fat?

Try changing your eating habits. For example you can try to eat more natural foods and avoid processed food as much as possible.

Instead of drastically reducing the food you take, eat more vegetables, fruits, beans, grains and pulses. These food have very high fiber content and hence you can have your tummy filled while gaining very less calories.

Also you can try to select your food items carefully. Avoid high fat, high calorie food items like fried chicken (and for that case any friend items) and instead opt for oven baked or broiled items.

Goals

When you plan for dieting, allow room for occasional mistakes. If you don’t do that, things become difficult just after a single slip-up. It’s quite normal to have temptation to eat a sugary treat during dieting. But too much craving can spoil all fun! So when you feel more temptation for sweet items, try to divert yourself by doing something that you like or talking to someone or opting for a leisurely walk!

Set a simple and realistic goal. Instead of thinking about losing 10s or 100s of kilos immediately, think about losing 1 or 2 kilos. Always keep track of your goal. Even though there are slip ups, just ignore and continue to focus on your goals. Being flexible and adaptable is very important to succeed!

Plan properly. As mentioned before it’s good to set simple goals. Similarly identify unhealthy or very high calorie / fat food items one by one and try to find an alternative for each one of them. If you rush up and change up everything, it’s very likely that you end up eating more very soon.

Learn to cook your food! As mentioned in the previous episode, cooking your own food is one of the best ways to enjoy and at the same time select healthy diet for you.

Avoid food that contains white flour, sugars, trans fats and salt.
