On a normal day, Subha would have fired back at him or at least shown her reaction on her face. But now she wanted to tease him by being non-responsive. Fighting her own impulse to react, she stayed as cool as a cucumber.

“We all make that mistake. Everyone has their own problems, and we don’t always see them.”

Baskar was a bit startled as he looked at her. She could see that her smile softened his face, but he quickly regained his composure.

Subha left him there all alone! Baskar stood there for a few more seconds before starting to walk toward his home. Rather than what Subha said, it was what she did that stunned him.

Murthy and Shoba were all set to attend the concert. Just as they were about to leave, Baskar appeared in front of them. Both Murthy and Shoba were surprised to see Baskar well-dressed.

His eyes returned to the stage, as if they knew the answer. But Subha was not there. Baskar was disappointed. He kept staring at the stage for a few more minutes, but Subha didn’t reappear.

He realized he needed to see her. He felt suffocated without her presence. He couldn’t explain

Baskar couldn’t think clearly. Why did he let this happen to him? Why did he soften his heart’s stone wall? Subha’s smiling face with her beautiful curved lips flashed through his mind. At that moment, he knew the root cause of everything. Now he had to find a way to fix it all, to go back to

Subha scanned his face with her beautiful brown eyes. Baskar’s heart skipped a couple of beats. It was very difficult for him to fake his anger.

There was something in his voice that made Subha feel bad. She wanted to plead with him to let her work there, but her self-esteem rebelled against the idea. She would never plead with him or anyone!

Subha had dreamed of this day for years, and now it was finally real. She knew that Baskar’s recommendation letter had added significant weight to her application. She wished she could share this happy news with him.

Subha was taken aback by Bavi’s tone and expression. It had taken Subha a lot of mental effort to visit Baskar’s home. She had been praying that he wouldn’t be there, and luckily for her, he was absent. But Bavi seemed to fill the void with her hostility!

At first, Subha was confused by his silence, but then she realized how monumental this news was for Baskar.

A sigh escaped his lips as his heart ached with the unspoken love he felt for Subha.

Now Baskar was left in awe. Did she just call him an idiot and stupid?

“Life isn’t always fair, Mr. Baskar. It can be pretty unfair at times. Maybe it’s time for you to learn that,” Subha retorted, turning to leave.
