Chillzee Recipes - Easy Brocoli fry (Easy brocoli poriyal) - Nanthini
Ingredients
Broccoli - 1
Onion - 1 if small sized else 1/2
Green Chilly - 1 or 2
Grated Coconut - 2 table spoon
Curry leaves - as needed
Oil - 1 or 2 teaspoon
Mustard seeds - little
Red Chilly - 2
Urad dhal (Ulunthu) - 2 table spoon
Salt - as needed
Procedure
- Wash the broccoli fine and cut it into very small pieces. The easy option is to pulse it few times in the mixie / blender.
- Cut onion and green chilly into small pieces
- Heat oil in a kadai.
- When oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
- Add curry leaves, urad dal and red chilly.
- Fry till the urad dal turns golden brown (should take around a minute)
- Add onion and green chilly
- Fry till onion turns color.
- Now add the finely shredded broccoli and required salt.
- Stir fry for about three to five minutes till broccoli turns dark green in color.
- Add grated coconut, mix well and remove from the stove.
* Broccoli usually tastes good if it is crunchy. But if you want it to be soft, you can cook for few more minutes.
