Chillzee Recipes - Easy Brocoli fry (Easy brocoli poriyal) - Nanthini

Ingredients

Broccoli - 1 

Onion - 1 if small sized else 1/2

Green Chilly - 1 or 2

Grated Coconut - 2 table spoon

Curry leaves - as needed

Oil - 1 or 2 teaspoon

Mustard seeds - little

Red Chilly - 2

Urad dhal (Ulunthu) - 2 table spoon

Salt - as needed

Procedure

  1. Wash the broccoli fine and cut it into very small pieces. The easy option is to pulse it few times in the mixie / blender.
  2. Cut onion and green chilly into small pieces
  3. Heat oil in a kadai.
  4. When oil becomes hot, add mustard seeds and let it splutter.
  5. Add curry leaves, urad dal and red chilly.
  6. Fry till the urad dal turns golden brown (should take around a minute)
  7. Add onion and green chilly
  8. Fry till onion turns color.
  9. Now add the finely shredded broccoli and required salt.
  10. Stir fry for about three to five minutes till broccoli turns dark green in color.
  11. Add grated coconut, mix well and remove from the stove.

* Broccoli usually tastes good if it is crunchy. But if you want it to be soft, you can cook for few more minutes.
