It is the festival day for HINDUS and JAINS in South Asia.

Hindus celebrate it since, the day marks the incarnation of sixth AVATAR of lord Vishnu as “PARASURAM”

Jains celebrate this day in the name of AKHA TEEJ as the Conclusion of “Thirthankara Rishabha’s One Year Fast”.

On this day people cleanse the entire house as a way of welcoming good fortune and have their food together with whole family.  The common belief is that anything done on this day multiplies in multiple folds. Thus, it becomes a trend to begin new ventures and invest in things like gold on Akshaya Tritiya.
