14. Rose and Thorn - Sandhya

“I have a few tickets for a children music concert. Would you like to join me?” questioned Murthy.

“Children’s concert?” asked a surprised Shoba.

“Yeah! It is for a fund-raiser for an orphanage” explained Murthy.

“I see, I will come with you! But I don’t think Baskar or Bavi would be interested in this program. If you have more tickets, you can offer the tickets for free to someone else. Maybe your secretary?” suggested Shoba.

Murthy looked around the vast living room.

Baskar was typing something on his mobile phone. Bavi was busy reading a novel in her iPad.

“Our kids may not be interested in this concert, but there are other things they would be interested in” said Murthy boyishly.

“Like what?” asked Shoba curiously

“Let’s find it out” said Murthy and turned his attention towards Baskar.

“Baski, you know the Angel’s home don’t you?” asked Murthy.

Baskar looked slightly startled but nodded his head in acceptance.

“They are conducting a concert. Your mom and I are planning to attend it. Do you like to join us?”

“Me? No dad!”

“Subha told me that this program is for charity. So, I bought a few extra tickets. If you know someone who would be interested, let me know. We can give them these tickets for free” said Murthy

“You got the tickets from Subha?” asked Baskar with surprise.

“Yes Baski. Since you are surprised, I guess she didn’t sell these tickets to you. Maybe she knows you well be now” said Murthy with a giggle.

Baskar’s face changed color, he quietly diverted his attention to his mobile phone again.

“What was that about?” enquired Shoba in a secret voice.

“That my darling is what’s called as love” clarified Murthy

“Love? Baski?” Shoba’s voice was filled with surprise and happiness.
