24. Rose and Thorn - Sandhya
“Subha, I have no words to express my feelings. You have brought happiness back into our home. Thank you, dear” exclaimed Shoba with glee.
Subha was sort of taken aback by Shoba’s praise as she always thought Sujatha to be the reason for identifying Ashokan.
“Aunty, that’s stretching it too far. I might have shared the news about Ashokan, but it was Suji who spotted him,” she replied politely.
“I know Subha. I am very grateful to Sujatha as well. But it was you who first brought that wave of fresh air into this home. How can I forget the way my son and daughter talked to you? They were bluntly rude.”
Subha flashed a quick glance at Bavi, who was standing next to Shoba. It is obvious Bavi was feeling uncomfortable.
“Let’s not talk about it now, aunty. We all make mistakes. But we should forget it and move on. If we keep on dwelling in the past, we can’t live in the present,” said Subha in a comforting way, mainly to soothe Bavi.
Her idea seemed to work as Bavi responded immediately.
“Thank you Subha. I was struggling to find words to talk to you. I know I have hurt you with my actions and words.”
“That’s ok, Bavi. I am very happy to see you walking on your own legs. Kudos Bavi. Forget about all those dark days and enjoy your life.”
“I will Subha, and I will also try to be more generous and kinder to people. I have learned it from you.’
