“Please Thulasi! See, I usually celebrate my birthday with my mom and this year I didn’t even spend few minutes with my mom… I came here to meet you…”

Thulasi looked up,
“It’s wrong Dinakar…”
“What’s wrong? Doing something like this?” He asked kissing softly in her cheeks.
Thulasi looked at him with a false anger while he added,
“I know this is wrong…” and bent and kissed her softly in her lips.
Thulasi was dumbfounded! She didn’t know how to react. Dinakaran continued to talk with a mischievous smile in his lips.
“Am I correct Thulasi darling? I will not surely do any wrong things before our marriage…”
“What else is there to do…” murmured Thulasi, then added,
“Come Karan, let’s cut this cake and celebrate your birthday… You need to go and meet Seetha amma as soon as possible. It’s wrong that you didn’t celebrate it with her first…”
“Ok, my highness…” said Dinakaran pretending to be polite.
They both cut the cake and also fed each other… It was a new and memorable experience for both of them!
After playing among themselves with the cake for some time, Thulasi reminded Dinakaran again about going home…
“Ok, ok darling…” he said with a wink.
Thulasi looked at his smiling face for a few seconds and then went near him.
“I came here with many confusions Karan, now I feel so very peaceful… Thanks…”
Thulasi took the ring from her finger and took Dinakaran’s right hand and said,
“This is for your birthday and a token of my love…”
The ring was tight even for his little finger but somehow Dinakaran managed to wear it in his finger.
“Thank you so much… But darling, you are very thin… Eat well and pep-up yourself otherwise you will feel for that after marriage…” said Dinakaran with a wink.
Thulasi again gave him a false angry stare and said,
“I never thought you will talk like this…”
“It’s true that I can’t talk like this to others but you…”
“Hmmm… Ok, let’s go and meet Seetha amma…”
“Sure… But there is one more surprise for you before that?”
Dinakaran took the surprised Thulasi to another room. It was a decorated room… Thulasi looked around the room with question… Dinakaran clapped as if to signal something and there came everyone… There was Seetha, Saradha, Kavya, Krishna and Abirami.
Thulasi was totally surprised. It took her sometime to understand what’s happening. It’s all his plan… Again she looked at him angrily…
“Cool down darling… You gave me a ring and made me commit to you unofficially, now we will do the same thing again in front of our elders and get committed officially…”
Dinakaran spoke in a low soothing tone… Thulasi’s heart melted at his affection… How much he has done for her… How much he thinks for her…
“Akka, enough enough! We are also here… Please turn your eyes this side also…” said Kavya teasingly.
Thulasi’s face again turned red in shyness. And that was more than enough for Kavya to continue teasing her elder sister.
Saradha and Seetha appeared very happy…
Dinakaran and Thulasi exchanged rings…
“Ranjan has simplified a task for us… 24th is a very good auspicious date. If it’s ok with you we can plan for the marriage on 24th only…” said Saradha.
“Yes we can do that… If you want, we can arrange both the marriages on the same day…” said Seetha.
“No…” said Kavya and Krishna together.
Others looked surprised.
“Let’s do everything the traditional way… Let akka’s marriage get over first…” explained Kavya.
“Yes, that’s correct” accepted Krishna and Abirami.
“What do you say Dinu?” asked Seetha.
“Isn’t there any good auspicious date prior to 24th?” asked Dinakaran.
Everyone laughed…
“Ah! Is this really my son Dinakaran who hates girls?”
“Yes mom but now I am blessed by an angel so I am a changed person…”
Again everyone laughed… Though color rose on Thulasi’s face, even she laughed heartily!
“Everything looks good… If only we can get this Ranjan out of the way, everything will be perfect… But Karan will take of it…” thought Thulasi…
