அவன் வார்த்தைகளை கேட்ட தாத்தா கோபத்துடன் அங்கிருந்து அகன்று தன்னறைக்குச் சென்றார். பாட்டி அவரை பின்த் தொடர்ந்தார். வீட்டில் அனைவரும் இதை கவனித்தனர்.
தனுஷ் சஞ்சய்யை அவன் அறைக்கு அழைத்து சென்றான் “ரெடி ஆகு . . காலேஜ்க்கு டைம் ஆச்சு . நானே ட்ராப் பண்றேன்”
அடுத்து அம்மாவிடம் வந்தவன் அவரை தோளில் சாய்த்து கொண்டான் “அம்மா சஞ்சய் நம்மை விட்டு போக மாட்டான் . அவன் நமக்கு தான் .” அவருக்கு ஆறுதலாய் இருந்தது எனினும் தன் மாமனார் என்ன முடிவு எடுப்பார் என்னும் அச்சம் நடுங்க செய்தது.
“உங்க தாத்தா?” விசும்பல் ஊடே அம்மா சொல்ல . . .
“தாத்தாவ நான் பாத்துக்கிறேன்மா ” என்றான் தனுஷ். அது அத்தனை சுலபமில்லை என அவனுக்கே தெரியும்.
தாத்தா அறைக்கு சென்றான் அவர் எதோ ஒரு நாளிதழை எடுத்து படிப்பதைப்போல பாவனை செய்தார்.
“தாத்தா” இவன் மெல்ல அழைக்க . . . “
அதே நொடி பிருந்தாவிடமிருந்து போன் வந்தது. அழைப்பை துண்டிக்க மனமில்லாமல் தன் மனக்குமுறலை முயன்ற அளவு மறைத்து “பிருந்தா” என்றவாறு தனுஷ் பேச . . .
அழைப்பிதழ் அனாதையாய் வாயிலில் கிடந்தது.
வானவில் வளையும் . . .
