வேட்டிகன் சிட்டி தான் உலகின் மிக சிறிய நாடு. இதன் மொத்த பரப்பளவு 0.17 சதுர மைல்கள் மட்டுமே. நம் சென்னை நகரம் இதை விட 100 மடங்கு பெரியது!

இத்தாலியின் ரோம் நகரில் அமைந்துள்ள வேட்டிகன் சிட்டி போப் மற்றும் பல கத்தோலிக்க மத பிரமுகர்களின் தாயகமாகும்.

வெறும் 800 மக்கள்தொகை கொண்ட இந்த நாட்டில் வசிப்பவர்களில் 450 பேரில் மட்டுமே உண்மையான குடியுரிமை கொண்டவர்கள். மற்றவர்கள் வேறு இடங்களில் வாழ்கின்றனர்.

வேட்டிகன் சிட்டியின் இறையாண்மையை இத்தாலிய அரசாங்கம் 1929 பிப்ரவரி 11 அன்று லேடரன் ஒப்பந்தத்தின் கீழ் அங்கீகரித்தது.

வேட்டிகனுக்கு என தனி பாஸ்ப்போர்ட், ஸ்டாம்ப், நம்பர் பிளேட்கள், கொடி, தேசிய கீதம், கரன்சி என அனைத்தும் இருக்கிறது.
