சாந்தியின் கணவர், அவர்களின் தெருவின் கோடியில் காவலுக்கு இருக்கும் காவலர்களிடம் சென்று தன் மனைவியின் நிலையை சொல்லி தான் உடனடியாக செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று கேட்க, அவர்கள் அவனை வெளியில் செல்ல அனுமதிக்க முடியாது என்று கூற, அவர்களிடம் தன் மனைவியை எப்படியாது பார்க்க வேண்டும் என்று கெஞ்ச ஆரம்பித்தான்...
அவர்களுக்கு இவன் நிலை புரிந்தாலும், கட்டுப்பாடு காரணமாக அவர்களாலும் ஒன்றும் செய்ய முடியவில்லை...
“சார் சார் நான் எங்கயும் நிக்காம நேரா என் மாமியார் வீட்டுக்குத்தான் சார் போகறேன்... பொய் சொல்லலை சார்... நீங்க வேணா என்னோட கூட வாங்க....”
“சொன்னா புரிஞ்சுக்கப்பா... உன்னை வெளிய விட்டா எனக்கு பெரிய பிரச்சனை ஆகிடும்... உங்க சொந்தக்காரங்க யாரையாவது போய் பார்க்க சொல்லுப்பா...”
“எல்லாருமே தொலைவுல இருக்காங்க சார்... அப்படி சொல்ல முடியும்ன்னா இந்நேரம் சொல்லி இருப்பேனே...”
“இந்தத் தெருவுல கிட்டத்தட்ட முப்பது பேருக்கு மேல நோய்த் தொற்று இருக்குப்பா.. அதனால கண்டிப்பா யாரையும் வெளிய விடக்கூடாதுன்னு அரசாங்க உத்தரவு... மீற முடியாதுப்பா...”
சாந்தியின் கணவன் காவலுருடன் போராடிக்கொண்டிருக்க சாந்தி மெதுவாக நடந்து வாசல் வரை வந்தாள்.... அதற்குள் அவளுக்கு தலை சுற்ற ஆரம்பித்தது....
