Then they started talking about general stuff. Krishna enquired about Thulasi and Uma's boutique and when they explained about their business he showed real interest and listened very keenly. He also gave them some suggestions to increase their reach-ability.
Thulasi and Uma accepted his ideas and it was very obvious that they both liked Krishna. Thulasi was so very happy for her sister.
After finishing their snacks, they started to leave. Though Krishna offered to pay the bill, Thulasi stopped him and paid the bill herself.
"You came here respecting my invitation Krishna... So I should pay" she said.
Krishna accepted it and they all excluding Kavya, left the restaurant with a happy mind.
Kavya didn't expect things to turn out like this. She was sure that her sister will like Krishna but she never wanted to marry Krishna so soon. She always wanted to take up the family responsibilities from her sister. She was also planning to find a suitable groom for Thulasi. Now it looked as if she is very selfish... She completed all her education with the help of Thulasi... And now if she get married immediately then she can't help her family in any way....
Kavya wanted to explain this to Thulasi. But her guilty feeling stopped her. If she really had such feelings, she should have never let Krishna to enter her heart.... Now she was totally confused....
Contradictory to her sister, Thulasi was very happy. She was sure that Krishna is the apt match for her little sister. She shared her thoughts with Uma and Kavya. She told them that she is going to inform Saradha about this too.
As expected, Saradha was very shocked to hear this news. She started to scold Kavya, but Thulasi stopped her.
"Amma, any way we need to find a groom for her... Now she has reduced our task...What's the big deal now? This Krishna seems to be a good guy... Uma told me she will ask her cousin to enquire about his family in Mogappair... His family is good and affluent... he is well educated and is in a good job... and above all he adores Kavi... what else do we need?"
Saradha was quiet for a few seconds and then said,
"Thulasi, you are speaking as if you are her mother... but you are her elder sister... You are supposed to get married first... now there will be lot questions about why Kavya's marriage is conducted first and they will start floating around new stories...." in a breaking voice.
Kavya's face showed anguish. The same thought was going through her mind too.
"That's ok, amma... Let them do whatever they want... Why should we think about this society and people amma? When we were left with nothing, who was there to help us? All these people will come only when we have money or when they have news to talk about us.... Let them do whatever they want. We shouldn't bother about that..." said Thulasi firmly.
Saradha looked at her elder daughter for a few seconds and said,
"Ok Thulasi... I accept this if you accept my one condition...."
Thulasi was surprised,
"Condition??? Come on amma, you can just order me...."
"No this is a condition only... If you accept then I will accept to this also..."
"Ok amma... tell me... "
"Now whatever be the outcome of this talk, you should promise to marry and stop talking as if you are born just to take up all the responsibilities..."
Thulasi was very much taken aback by her mother's request. Kavya was also shocked but she was happy. She wanted Thulasi to have a happy life.
"Oh no..." started Thulasi.
"Don't say no akka... what amma is saying is correct... Say yes and accept it....please..." said Kavya.
Thulasi didn't say anything she looked at her mother's face. Saradha stood firm and said,
"If you want me to say yes now, you should first say yes to my condition...."
Thulasi finally gave up and said....
"Yes..."
