Thulasi looked at Dinakaran with a smile and said,
“Hmm… there’s a mistake in my reply. It should be, what else can I say Dinakar?”
Dinakaran didn’t reply. He was spellbound by Thulasi’s sparkling eyes. He has seen a pleading Thulasi, a majestic Thulasi and also a happy Thulasi. But he has never seen her like this… Her eyes shining with humor, a mischievous smile in her face, face glowing in red color and ofcourse she addressing him as Dinakar…
The man who manages thousands of employees and who is used to commanding people, sat there astonished, spellbound staring at the simple beauty of Thulasi…
Thulasi looked at him for a few more seconds and then turned her face and started drawing lines in the beach sand… Both of them remained silent for some time… But unlike few minutes back, it was a more comfortable silence now! Both of them have realized their own feeling for the other and they also understood the same affection from the other…
Out of blue, Thulasi’s phone started ringing and both of them came back to their senses. Thulasi attended the call and replied with yes’s and ok’s… After cutting the call, she looked at Dinakaran and said,
“It’s Kavy, I need to go…”
“Hmm…”
“Thanks Dinakar for everything… Convey my regards to Seetha amma…”
Though the words were very similar, Thulasi’s tone had got changed to formal tone. Dinakaran realized that and he shook his head in acceptance and wished her good night. Thulasi wished him back, got up and started walking away from him…
Dinakaran waited for a few seconds and turned his head in the direction that Thulasi left. He could still see her walking fast and moving away from him... For the first time in his life, he felt warmth in his heart… To hell with the challenge, I can’t wait anymore he decided…
After reaching home, Dinakaran spent most of his time with his mother. Seetha was very surprised but didn’t ask him anything. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her son… While having dinner, Seetha started the topic that Dinakaran was struggling to start…
“Dinu, how long can you be like this? If you get married, you can settle in your life and I can also relax…”
And much to her surprise, Dinakaran accepted her words and said,
“You are correct mom! I am also thinking about getting married and settling in life. Good that you started this topic.”
“Dinu, is this true? Did I hear you clearly?”
Dinakaran smiled and said,
“Yes mom, you heard it right. I said yes… Now it’s your duty to find a good match for me…”
“Thank god… you atlast changed your heart! I am very happy! But Dinu, I don’t think I am good in selecting a bride for you… Tell me what are your expectations and I will ask the marriage broker to find a suitable match for you…”
Dinakaran’s face showed a hint of disappointment but he changed his expression even before Seetha could notice it.
“You are my mother! Who else can select a better bride for me? I leave it to you mom…”
“No Dinu… “
Seetha hesitated for a few seconds and then added,
“You know what? I have a very strong feeling that Thulasi will be a perfect match for you… But you hate to just have a sight of her and she hates even to hear about you… pch…”
Dinakaran played with the rice in his plate for a few seconds and shifted his head looked at his mother straight in her eyes and said,
“No mom! You have proved that mother is the best person who can understand her child and also the person who selects the best for her son…”
“Dinu!” Seetha’s voice was filled with surprise all over.
“Yes mom, I love Thulasi… I don’t know exactly when I changed my attitude towards her and started loving her… But I can tell you one thing, I can’t think of anyone else in her place. I just adore her… Oh mom, I am saying movie dialogues! Ah……….!”
Seetha was still in amazement! It was too much for her to digest the news immediately. Dinakaran added,
“And mom, now you know the reason for my change of heart… By the way mom, I have already spoken to Saradha aunty also…”
“What? You spoke to your mother-in-law already?”
“Oh mom, thank you! Thank you very much!”
“What?”
“You said mother-in-law… that means you have accepted my plan…”
Seetha looked at Dinakaran curiously and said,
“Hello! That’s wrong!”
“What’s wrong?”
“You have accepted my plan Mr. Dinakaran! I have always wanted Thulasi to be my daughter-in-law. It was you who scared her away from this house…”
“Oh come on mom, don’t you know love always starts like that?” asked Dinakaran with a boyish smile.
Seetha laughed and she felt very happy. It’s been many years since her son had a chat with her like that. It’s all Thulasi-phobia she thought to herself.
