He looked straight into her eyes, trying to understand her reason. But he couldn’t scrutinize her thoughts. Instead, he felt as if he was dragged into her enormous eyes.
“I don’t think that’s required” he stammered trying hard to compose himself.
“Please sir! Let me work here for a few more months” pleaded Subha.
He could see that she wanted to come here desperately. But why?
The question lingered across his brain. Why should she work here? What possible reason could she have?
Is it possible that she wants to see him daily?!
He could not think of any other possible explanation. His heart started pounding as if it’s going to explode.
Baskar again looked into Subha’s eyes and asked,
“Why?”
He forgot his pretend anger. He desperately wanted to know the answer.
Baskar kept his eyes glued on Subha. For the first time Subha seemed to be ill at ease. Color rose on her cheeks. It added extra spice to her already elegant beauty.
Baskar kept staring at her waiting for her to reply.
But Subha didn’t respond immediately.
Her pause added to his curiosity.
“Tell me Subha, why do you want to continue here? You already have a job and you don’t get paid here” asked Baskar again.
His expectations rose exponentially with her silence. Does she also love him? Is she hesitant to say that?? Is it possible that she is going to confess her love for him just here?
