ஏனென்றால் முதலையின் நாக்கு அசைவதில்லை.

அதன் நாக்கு வாயின் மேலே உள்ள ஒரு சவ்வின் மூலம் இணைக்கப் பட்டுள்ளது.

முதலைகள் நீருக்கடியில் அதிக நேரம் செலவிடுவதால், இப்படி ஒட்டி இருக்கும் நாக்கு அதன் தொண்டையை மூடி வைக்க உதவுகிறது. இதனால் நீருக்கடியில் முதலையில் காற்றுப் பாதையை பாதுகாக்கிறது.

ஆனால் முதலைகளை போல இருக்கும் இன்னொரு உயிரினமான அலிகேட்டர்களால் நாக்கை நீட்ட முடியும்!

Since crocodiles spend so much time underwater, the tongue helps keep the throat closed, protecting the animal's airway.

But crocodiles very similar counterparts, alligators, can poke their tongues out.
