the volunteers. Suba and other volunteers turned around and Suba identified them instantly.
A wave of surprise went through her eyes as she saw Baskar. She said something to a woman standing next to her and came down to meet Murthy and his family.
“Aunty!” said Suba as she came closer to them.
Aunty??? Wondered Baskar.
“I told you this shawl would go well with your chudi” said Shoba appreciatively.
“You are an expert aunty. I wish you can be with me all the time to provide me with great tips” answered Suba with a smile.
“Yes Suba, my wife is the most intellectual lady in this world” accepted Murthy.
Baskar could see that his parents had more than professional relationship with Suba. Astonishingly, he felt very pleased about it!
“OK uncle, aunty, it’s almost time to start the concert. I promised the kids I would be with them. So, let me rush back. I will catch up later” said Suba in a hurried tone.
As she started walking, she stopped abruptly, turned again and looked at Baskar.
“Baskar sir, it’s really wonderful to see you here” she said and left the place even before Baskar could react to her words!
His eyes followed Suba as she rushed back to the stage.
The little boy came back and gave a chocolate to Baskar.
“I know you didn’t get yours. This is mine. You can have it” he said with pride. The innocence in his face caught Baskar’s attention.
“Hi Kamal, what are you doing here? The program is going to start. Go and join them” said the soft and kind voice of Jaya.
“OK mother” said the boy politely. He forced the chocolate into Baskar’s hand and obeyed the elder’s request.
“Mr. Baskar, I am surprised to see you here” said Jaya. Baskar could sense the nervousness in her voice.
Murthy, who was quietly watching the conversation between Baskar and the boy, decided to intervene now.
“Hello madam, I am Baskar’s dad” he said and introduced himself.
