நான் எதிர்ல வர வேண்டாம்னு ஒதுங்கிப் போனா..அதுக்கு ஒரு வியாக்கியானம் பேசறார்” என்றார் வத்சலா.

“சின்ன வயசல்ல?...அதான் அப்படிப் பேசறாரு...வயசு ஆக....ஆக...புரிஞ்சுக்குவார்”

ஊர் மக்கள் ஆங்காங்கே கும்பல் கும்பலாய் நின்று ரவீந்தருக்கு நேர்ந்ததைப் பற்றியும், அந்த உப்பாயம்மனின் மகிமை பற்றியும் கூட்டியும் குறைந்தும் பேசிக் கொண்டனர்.

வேறு குலத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவர்களும் உப்பாயம்மனின் சக்தியை சிலாகித்துப் பேசத் துவங்கினர்.

பால்ராஜ் தன்னைத்தானே மெச்சிக் கொண்டான். “அவன் நம்ம சாமி கோயிலுக்குள்ளார நின்னுக்கிட்டு....நம்ம சாமியையே திட்டறான்!...யாராச்சும் அவனைக் கேட்டீங்களா?...நான் ஒருத்தன்தான் அவன் கூட வாக்குவாதம் பண்ணினேன்!...இப்ப என்னாச்சு?...இனிமேல் எவனும் நம்ம ஆத்தாவைப் பத்தி மூச்சு விட மாட்டானுக!”

“உண்மையிலேயே எனக்கு நெனச்சா உடம்பெல்லாம் புல்லரிக்குதுப்பா...எப்படி அந்தப் பயல் மயானம் வரைக்கும் போயிருப்பான்?...அவனே நடந்து போயிருப்பானா?..இல்லை ஆத்தா அவனைத் தூக்கிட்டுப் போய் போட்டிருப்பாளா?” இன்னொருவன் கேட்க,

“யாருக்குத் தெரியும்?...சம்மந்தப்பட்டவனே...“எப்படி இங்க வந்தேன்?னு எனக்கே தெரியலை”ன்னு சொல்றானே?...ஒருவேளை....தூக்கத்துல நடக்கற வியாதி இருக்கறவங்க எப்படி பிரமி பிடிச்ச மாதிரி நடந்து போவாங்க?...அது மாதிரிப் போயிருப்பானோ? என்னவோ?” என்றான் பால்ராஜ்.

“இல்லையே?...பயல் உடம்புல இருந்த காயங்களைப் பார்க்கும் போது..ஆத்தா அவனைத் தலை மேல் தூக்கி “கர...கர”னு சுத்தி வீசியிருப்பாளோ?ன்னு கூடத் தோணுது” என்றான் அந்த இன்னொருவன் தன் கற்பனை வளத்தைக் காட்டும் விதமாய்.

“எது எப்படியோப்பா..அந்த பயல் மூலமா நம்ம உப்பாயம்மனோட சக்தி இப்ப ஊரூ பூராவும் தெரிஞ்சிடுச்சு!...அது போதும் நமக்கு!” என்றான் பால்ராஜ்.
